Quinta do Portal

Quinta do Portal is a fine winemaking estate created and operated by the Manshila Branco family that passionately embraced the "boutique winery" concept. Initiated in its current form in 1991, the family's roots in Port wine go back to 1881 with the Quinta dos Muros, the family's original property.

Quinta do Portal is located in the Pinhão river valley, a small tributary of the Douro in northern Portugal. The property counts 105 hectares of vineyards spread on terraced hillsides on both sides of the river at an altitude of 200-550 m that benefit from excellent sun exposure.

These assets, offering different soil compositions paired with an integrated sustainable farming approach and a gravity-flow winery, make it possible to produce a diversity of invaluable quality grapes to create exceptional wines. Paulo Coutinho has been the head winemaker since 1994.

In addition to its outstanding Port wines, Quinta Do Portal also features a cozy and luxurious boutique hotel, Casa das Pipas, in the heart of the vineyard. Staying at Quinta do Portal, tourists, amateurs, and professionals alike will undoubtedly experience the passion and ambience that led the Alto Douro wine region to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
